These include, for example, the files of city and district administrations, but also collections of photographs and newspaper clippings. Das Archiv steht allen Interessierten offen, sei es für wissenschaftliche Forschungen, zur Klärung heimatgeschichtlicher Fragen oder zur Erforschung familiärer Wurzeln. Die Benutzung ist grundsätzlich kostenlos und erfolgt im Rahmen der geltenden Benutzungsordnung und Verwaltungsgebührensatzung.
Eine gezielte Recherche ist über Findbücher, Datenbanken und Inventare möglich, die im Stadtarchiv selbst und teilweise auch hier online zur Verfügung stehen.
